Walter's has closed at 15 Exchange Street in Portland and is aiming to reopen this month at its new location at 2 Portland Square on Union Street.

Owners Jeff and Cheryl Buerhaus said they hope to open this month at their new location. They plan to feature worldly cuisine in their 3,200-square-foot space. An expanded bar will seat 14 and the lounge will seat 12, they said.

"We're really excited to be on one floor," Cheryl Buerhaus added. "That's a huge plus for us."

Owners for five years, the Buerhauses said they are not changing their menu and will be open from 11:30 a.m. to midnight every day. The business was on Exchange Street for 20 years.

Also in development:

• Velvet, a dance club, is scheduled to open at 446 Fore St., in the old site of Prost International Tap House, according to Monday's Portland City Council agenda for license reviews.

Figa restaurant is still under development at 249 Congress St. in the former home of the 249 Salon, at the bottom of Munjoy Hill. Chef Lee Farrington, most recently of Manhattan, N.Y., came to Portland five years ago and cultivated her dream of opening a restaurant, according to her Web site (www.figarestaurant.com). A liquor license was under city review Monday.

Katahdin Wood Fire Grill and Bar is moving to 27 Forest Ave. from 106 High St. and plans to open early next year, according to its website (www.katahdinrestaurant.com). Its new location is the former Geo's Pastisserie.

• Sabieng will be the new name of a Thai restaurant known as Nakornping Thai located at 21 Forest Ave., again based on Monday's city council agenda.
